Beauty is her name….

When we think of the bitter cold that’s about to hit us, some people often bring up the bitterness they feel because they’re lonely or dealing with a breakup or the lost of a loved one. This feeling definitely begins to hit home around the holiday season. While I know the baggage can be a heavy load, let’s not let this season be overwhelmed with sadness. If you’ve lost friends, lost loved ones or personal possessions, the fact that you’re reading this right now proves one thing: you haven’t lost yourself. You put on a few pounds, you’re breaking out from stress and you just don’t have time to iron anymore (so wrinkles becomes a style), doesn’t mean that you have to throw in the towel. Use that towel to help brush yourself off to a new start! The good holidays: Thanksgiving, Chrismahanukwanzakah, New Years and my birthday – Oh wait, we all don’t celebrate that day? – are too close to be sad :-)

In the words of the great Sizzla, “ You can’t keep a good (wo)man down”. Weeping may endure for a night but JOY, cometh in the morning! Don’t let anyone rain on your parade! It’s a turf war and you MUST protect your temple! Don’t let me take ya’ll to church now! Whew, got me going this Friday morning :-)

This is my official call to arms! Pull out your favorite red lipstick, your sharpies or any writing utensil you can find, walk up to your mirror or even a piece of paper and throw some of your favorite encouraging phrases or words up there. Put them in different parts of your room or throughout your house. While we can be our worst enemies, we have to be our biggest cheerleaders as well. How can you appreciate a compliment if you don’t feel you’re worth it?

I will leave you with these words:

Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny
