Introducing Ms. PhD…
What’s in a name? Sometimes it’s everything and sometimes it’s not much at all. In this case, it’s the latter, which is why I need to introduce myself!
I am from the Bronx, NY but currently reside in Connecticut where I am pursuing a Ph.D. in psychology. The journey has taken five long years and I am glad it is almost over! Through the pain and struggle, I have embraced what it means to be a Dynamo—being the best me and carving out pieces of happiness along the way. These pieces of happiness come in several forms, including: writing, traveling, making jewelry, playing the latest word games to hit the market, and satisfying my addiction to Thai food!
In the pursuit of being the best me, I have established a career in understanding how societal factors (e.g., discrimination) influence a variety of psychological and health outcomes. I am especially interested in understanding these issues in marginalized groups. Dynamo is an excellent vehicle to increase our awareness of these issues, cultivate a healthy mental and physical well-being, and encourage each other to achieve our goals. This is what I plan to bring to Dynamo while sharing my quirky personality along the way. I am excited to start this chapter in Dynamo’s history and I hope you are too!
